TSURU — An identity shaped by ritual
An identity shaped by ritual.
"An intimate eight-seat omakase restaurant in Japan, built around a single idea: no evening is ever repeated."

02The Premise
Eight seats. One chef. One evening that will not happen again.
TSURU is a reservation-only omakase counter — eight seats, one chef, one seating at a time. There is no menu to choose from and no repeat performance: each evening is composed in the moment, around what the season and the market provide.
The brief was to build an identity and a digital experience that felt like the room itself — quiet, precise, and a little ceremonial. Not loud luxury. Restraint, held very deliberately.
03From Gesture to Mark
A crane. A hand. A pair of chopsticks.
The brief for the mark was never just "draw a crane." Tsuru (鶴) — the Japanese crane — already carries centuries of meaning: grace, longevity, good fortune. The harder task was fusing that symbol with something specific to this room: a chef's hand, and the chopsticks that shape every plate that leaves the counter.
Three gestures become one.
The sketch texture fades. The vector mark remains.
04The Mark
The mark, at rest.

07The Digital Experience
Designed to be experienced slowly.
The digital experience extends TSURU's philosophy beyond the counter — measured, atmospheric and deliberately restrained.

08Bilingual by Design
Two languages. One experience.
Japanese and English carry different rhythms. The interface was designed to accommodate both — preserving hierarchy, atmosphere and intent without forcing one language into the shape of the other.

09An Evening in the Hands of the Chef
An evening in the hands of the chef.
The identity was designed to disappear into the experience. At the counter, attention returns to what matters — ingredient, movement, precision and the quiet exchange between chef and guest.
10Responsive Experience
Built for the counter and the palm of a hand.
The mobile site was designed as its own composition, not a scaled-down desktop — the crane hero, the story sections and the reservation flow were each rebuilt for a single-column, one-hand read.
